Each piece of opal are completely one of a kind with all their unique flashes of colour. This one has has ultra-violet blues, purples and greens when the light hits it. An opal doublet is essentially two layers adhered together. The top layer is a thin slice of real opal and the bottom layer usually consists of a piece of black or dark potch (common) opal. This makes for a more affordable opal, yet still retaining those stunning opal patterns and colours.The pendant measures approximately 33mm wide, 38mm high and 4mm deep (excluding bail). Such beautiful designer pieces are hand made using the fold forming technique - the continuous heating, folding, hammering and unfolding of metal. The edge of the main fold has been carefully opened and flared by hand reflecting soft waves. Inside reveals a vibrant 18ct yellow gold vermeil plating - such a gorgeous contrast to the sterling silver. It's chain is made up of large inter-linking hooks - half silver, half 18ct yellow gold plated. The clasp is a simple hook and loop.
