The term aquamarine comes from a combination of two Latin words. The first one, aqua, translates as “water” and the second, marina to “sea”. March’s birthstone belongs to this beautiful stone. It is a fairly durable gemstone with a hardness of 7.5-8.0 on the Mohs Hardness Scale.The pendant measures approximately 45mm wide, 45mm high and 15mm deep. Such beautiful designer pieces are hand made using the fold forming technique - the continuous heating, folding, hammering and unfolding of metal. The edge of the main fold has been carefully opened and flared by hand reflecting soft waves. Inside reveals a vibrant 18ct yellow gold vermeil plating - such a gorgeous contrast to the sterling silver. It's chain is made up of large inter-linking hooks - half silver, half 18ct yellow gold plated. The clasp is a simple hook and loop.
